Toros  Agri, running its operations through its factories at 3 different locations in Turkey, adopts environmentally responsible production as the most fundamental criteria for sustainability and carries out its operations under this framework. Toros, adopting the use of its know-how and expertise to meet the needs of its clients and employees, carries out its activities in a manner respecting environmental protection and human life.

Toros  Agri, performs all the obligations imposed by the laws for the protection of the coastal areas, where its production facilities are located, as well as constantly reviews its production processes and improves them with new investments in order to preserve water resources and environmental ecosystems. For instance, Mersin Production Plant is the first industrial facilty in Turkey that has used catalytic reduction system, which reduces NOX emission in the flue gasses released from the Nitric Acid Unit to atmosphere, to less than 200 ppm. 

On the other hand, Samsun Fertilizer Plant was a facility that led to complaints due to the pollution it created prior to its takeover by Toros Agri in 2005. After the takeover, thanks to the investments put into practice, it has become an entirely environment-friendly production facility with CO and SOx emissions significantly below the values stipulated by the communiqué. Today, the plant’s entire discharge and emission sources are constantly controlled by internal and accredited labs. 

Toros  Agri also makes constant improvements to increase the energy efficiency of its facilities. 

Toros  Agri Mersin Plant was remunerated with the “Energy Efficient Industrial Facility Award” by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Renewable Energy General Directorate in 2016, as an industrial organization with the highest “energy concentration reduction rate” in the chemical substances, products and synthetic fibers sector.

At the Samsun Plant, the new USD 350 million investment, which went into operation in 2015, totally meets the natural gas and electricity requirements of the plant with its clean energy production. The plant, which converts thermal energy released during sulphuric acid reaction to electricity energy, is expected to save USD 16.7 million annually for the national economy in electricity production, and USD 5.3 million by diminishing natural gas import.
