Toros Tarım’s movement of growth in export
Toros Agri, the fertilizer export champion for the last two years, signed an agreement to acquire the sales and distribution operations of Nutrien, the world’s largest fertilizer producer, in Romania.
Toros Agri, Turkey’s largest fertilizer manufacturer and industry leader, is expanding its fertilizer operations through its overseas ventures on a regional scale. To this effect, Toros Tarım signed a share purchase agreement on 29 July 2019 in order to buy 100 percent of the company Agrium-Agroport Romania S.A. mainly engaged in the trade and distribution of fertilizers in Romania and operating under the roof of Nutrien, the largest fertilizer producer of the world.
Having become the export champion in its sector by realizing the highest fertilizer exports successively in 2017 and 2018, Toros Tarım aims to further strengthen its geographical expansion and exports with its new investment in Romania. In his statement made in relation to the latest investment move, Hakan Göral, the Vice President for Tekfen Agri-Industry Group and the Board Chairman of Toros Tarım, said; “This acquisition has been made to make Toros Tarım permanent and sustainable within the value chain in overseas markets that we have selected, as a part of our strategy to become a regional power, which we launched two years ago. Our goal is to make Romania our second largest market and to get our brand known there”. The company that will be registered in September will operate under the trade-name of “Toros Agroport Romania S.A.”.
