Tekfen became the pride of Turkey by being included in the “CDP Global A List” of World Climate and Water Leaders

Approximately 10 thousand companies around the world have reported to the Climate Change and Water Security Programs of CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the biggest platform for environment reporting, which aims to change the dynamics of the business world in order to reduce the effects of climate change and protect natural resources. Tekfen Holding was one of the 63 companies from all over the world and the only one from Turkey that attained an "A" rating in both programs.

Commenting on the issue, the President of Tekfen Group of Companies, Cahit Oklap said, “All over the world, it is now expressed louder than ever that sustainability is not a luxury but a vital necessity for our common future. In line with Tekfen Holding’s sustainability efforts, we take pride in being the only Turkish company on CDP’s global leaders lists for both climate change and water security”.

In another statement, Zafer Demirci, Tekfen Holding Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Coordinator said, “We make positive contributions to climate change and water security issues with our R&D studies. It is a source of great pride and happiness for us that all our efforts were appreciated and that Tekfen was included in CDP’s Global ‘A List’”.

For the first time, in the 2020 edition of the Global Risk Report published annually by the World Economic Forum, the top five of the global risks expected in the next decade are environmental risks. The five most likely global risks to occur within a decade are listed as extreme weather events, failure to fight against / adapt to climate change, natural disasters, loss of biodiversity and degradation of ecosystems, and human-induced environmental damages and disasters. In today’s world, where environmental risks are increasing day by day, everyone, especially public and private organizations, has important responsibilities.

Only Tekfen from Turkey

Continuing its efforts in this field in order to leave a sustainable world, not only for today but also for the future, Tekfen Holding reported to the Climate Change and Water Security Programs of CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), which is known as the world's strongest green non-governmental organization, as part of the Holding’s sustainability activities. Within the course of reporting from some 10 thousand companies on a global basis, Tekfen attained an “A” rating in both programs, being one of the 63 companies from all over the world and the only one from Turkey. Tekfen Holding, which started to monitor, measure and analyze its data on Climate Change in 2010 for the first time, and has transparently reported to CDP’s Climate Change Program since 2017 and to CDP’s Water Security Program since 2018, found itself a place among the Climate and Water Leaders in February 2020.

Cahit Oklap: “The degree we have achieved is a great motivation for us to raise the bar.”

Commenting on the receipt of Tekfen Holding’s “A” rating in both programs, the President of Tekfen Group of Companies, Cahit Oklap stated that, in addition to their business goals, Tekfen is doing its part to leave a more livable world to future generations and added: “It is now expressed louder than ever that sustainability is not a luxury but a vital necessity for our common future. In line with Tekfen Holding’s sustainability efforts, we take pride in being the only Turkish company on CDP’s global leaders lists for both climate change and water security. Last February, we found ourselves a place among the Climate and Water Leaders in Turkey. Now, as a result of ten years of hard work, the fact that we have shown a similar achievement on an international level is a concrete proof that we are on the right track and a great motivation to raise the bar.”

Zafer Demirci: “We make positive contributions to climate change and water security issues with our R&D studies.”

Zafer Demirci, Tekfen Holding Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Coordinator, stated that Tekfen Holding founders pioneered several initiatives aimed at protecting nature and the environment, and that the entire Group acted responsibly towards the environment in the same path. Reminding that protecting nature is one of Tekfen's top priorities, Demirci added: “With this approach, we determine our business strategies taking the effects of climate and water crises into account, take measures to reduce our carbon and water footprint in our workplaces, and on the other hand, we make positive contributions to climate change and water security through R&D studies. It is a source of great pride and happiness for us that all our efforts were appreciated and that Tekfen was included in CDP’s Global ‘A List’”.
