International Potato Physiology and Agronomy Symposium” was held in Kapadokya between September 20 and 24 with the sponsorship of Toros Agri

Subjects such as scientific agricultural methods, plant physiology of potato and fertile crop growing were discussed in International Potato Physiology and Agronomy Symposium that was held for the first time in Turkey. Growing fertile potato seeds by using tissue culture method intended by Toros Agri for raising potato plant arouse great interest among the participants.

Tissue culture method carried out by Toros Agri at Biotechnology Center of Toros Agripark for growing fertile potato seed free from diseases and viruses was explained to the visitors at the stands during the symposium. Besides, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Çalışkan presented plaquets to the sponsors that contributed to the symposium.

The potato seeds produced in Toros Agripark facilities by using the methods of tissue culture, thermotherapy application and the combination of these methods are grown in the greenhouses set in an area of 9 acres under controlled environmental conditions and they are offered to the producers after the potato tubers are obtained and certain disease and virus tests are carried out.

Workshops with regard to potato growing and a scientific tour covering the Cappadocia region were also among the activities held within the framework of International Potato Physiology and Agronomy Symposium, attended by scientists, producers and businessmen.
